Estepona is a very popular destinations for tourists and local residents living on the Costa del Sol, still full of Andalusian charm.
Estepona is situated at the western side of the Costa del Sol about an hours drive from Malaga airport. Estepona still has the romantic cobbled streets guiding tourists around the local Spanish cafes and restaurants also sharing its boutique style shops and bodegas.
Estepona is a very easy town to navigate using an electric wheelchair or mobility scooter, especially along the long stretch of smooth Paseo marítimo overlooking the long sandy beaches.
For years one of Estepona’s main industries was fishing. Even today, the local fishing port remains an important form of income for many in the area.
Now at least for over ten years, tourism has become the main important economic factor, due to the town’s constant opening of new dining establishments and its well maintained beaches, such as La Rada and Cristo Beach. The fact there are prestigious local golf courses and constant European investment into new housing developments, this all makes Estepona a very attractive town to visit for thousands of tourists every year.
Estepona is actually a shorter drive from Gibraltar airport, than it is from Malaga airport. If you are booked into a hotel in Estepona for your holidays it’s worth checking flights to Gibraltar also, you may find it more convenient being closer to the airport.
